Pedicab operator helps catch fugitive
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
LONDON -- It wasn't your typical highspeed chase. A pedicab operator was
pressed into action by two policewomen trying to nab a fugitive last Friday.
The chase in Hereford, about 150 miles west of London, began after the
policewomen received a call for help from fellow officers trying to
arrest a man wanted for breach of bail, West Mercia police said in a
statement.
The officers hopped into a pedicab - a two-seat tricycle powered by a
cyclist - and pressed driver Ben Matthews into action. Fellow pedicab
driver Will Vaughan spotted Matthews as he crossed Castle Green, a park
in the center of town, and pedaled over to help.
